What is Charoite?
Charoite is a complex silicate mineral displaying stunning shades of violet, from soft lilac to deep purple, often swirled with white, black, and grey. A Modern Discovery

Only when someone polished a piece did the vivid purple interior reveal itself. The stone's appearance was so striking that experts first thought it must be fake or dyed. It took nearly 15 years for the International Mineral Association to confirm Charoite as genuine. The name may come from the nearby Chara River, though some believe it derives from "chary," the Russian word for "magic" or "charms."
