About Us
A Passion for Gems
As a child summer holidays were spent with my family on the coastlines of Italy and the South of France. My sister and I would spend hours beachcombing the pristine, white beaches fossicking for brightly coloured shells and pebbles. From these early childhood days my collection grew, as did my passion for all things natural.
In my late twenties I flew to Australia and instantly fell in love with the wildness of the landscape, the sheer beauty of the coastline and the unique flora and fauna. I took a trip to Broome on the western coast of Australia and swooned over local freshwater pearls - their natural beauty and magnificent lustre ignited my passion.
From this moment on, I became fascinated with semi-precious gemstones and their origins. I could not learn enough about their unique energetic, healing properties – worn for thousands of years by cultures all over the world.
The more I learned the more my fascination grew and in my spare time I began making bespoke pieces of jewellery with my daughter Kate and we started to sell them at local markets as a hobby.
In 2020 my passion ignited on a yoga retreat to the magnificent Italian island of Sardinia with its emerald seas, its magnificently vibrant flora and fauna and pristine white sandy beaches – it was a creative heaven for me and I began creating unique pieces of jewellery to reflect its natural beauty.
I was invited back the following year. My sister, who runs the retreats, commissioned a gift for each client - a unique bracelet depicting the essence of Sardinia using gemstones to match the colours of the island. This was an amazing experience and one that was highly successful as each piece was admired and adorned.
I have since returned four times to the island retreat - each year creating something different and wonderful. On the last trip I created individual bookmarks using pieces of leather or cord, charms and bespoke gems to reflect this magnificent place and to mark the transformation each participant experienced.
I live on the shores of a saltwater lake in Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia. It is a life close to the elements - each dawn a different masterpiece every day, each sunset, vibrant and spectacular. I am so grateful for this sanctuary for my creative spirit.
In 2024 it was time to give my passion a name. Like so many profound experiences – it came in a dream… and Soul & Stone was created. And so began my journey of turning my passion into a small business.
Every piece I make is designed and created with the heart and soul of the wearer in mind and the hope to inspire and capture the magic of love and peace. I hope you enjoy wandering through the gallery and finding inspiration for a piece of your very own.
